Dr. Yusuf Janahi, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Quality, represented UCB at the Business and Technology Conference hosted by the University of Edinburgh, where he presented how the Kingdom of Bahrain is harnessing digital innovation to advance environmental sustainability.

Dr. Yusuf Janahi highlighted several national initiatives, including the Bahrain eGovernment Portal, which provides over 400 online services, significantly reducing paper consumption and lowering carbon emissions. He also emphasized the impact of smart electricity meters, contributing to a targeted 6% reduction in energy consumption by 2025, as well as real-time leak detection systems that improve water conservation. Additional efforts such as the expansion of solar panel installations, supporting the country’s goal of generating 5% of energy from renewable sources and air quality monitoring systems were showcased as part of Bahrain’s integrated approach to sustainability.

Dr. Yusuf concluded his presentation with a powerful message:
“Every digital step is a move toward a greener, smarter future.”
