Dr. Rana Sawaya, President of the University College of Bahrain (UCB), represented the university at the International Conference on Sustainable Business and Technology (ICBT “Cairo” 2025), hosted by the American University in Cairo (AUC) from September 29 to October 1, 2025.

Dr. Rana participated as a panelist in a session titled “Re-thinking HEI Governance towards Generation Alpha,” which explored how Generation Alpha is redefining the future of higher education. The discussion examined how this generation, characterized by its deep integration with technology and AI, drives the need for innovative, dynamic, and engaging learning environments.

During the panel, Dr. Rana emphasized the importance of reimagining governance frameworks in higher education to align with the evolving expectations of digital-native learners. The presentation underscored the value of fostering adaptive institutions that balance innovation with academic rigor and inclusivity.
